Frequently asked questions
What does a finance business partner actually do?
A finance business partner runs the management side of your finance function: closing the books each month, reconciling accounts, producing management reports and dashboards, forecasting cash and profit, and advising on decisions like pricing, hiring and investment. With myrtl this is delivered as a service from $3,999 per month rather than as a hire.
How is this different from a bookkeeper or a tax accountant?
A bookkeeper records transactions and a tax accountant handles compliance and lodgements. myrtl sits above both: it takes the recorded data, makes sure it is accurate, then turns it into reporting, forecasts and advice you can act on during the year. myrtl works alongside your existing bookkeeper and tax accountant rather than replacing them.
How much does it cost compared with hiring someone?
Plans start at $3,999 per month. A single management accountant in Sydney typically costs $110,000–$140,000 per year plus superannuation, recruitment and software, and still leaves gaps in CFO advisory and finance data skills. A plan covers that full range of capability for less than one senior salary, and can be paused or cancelled with six weeks notice.
Who will I actually be dealing with?
Kevin Sampath, the principal of myrtl and a Chartered Accountant, leads every engagement — you deal with him directly rather than through an account manager. myrtl is Australian-based, so you are working in your own timezone with response times under 24 hours.
What accounting software do you work with?
myrtl works with the common Australian stack including Xero and MYOB, along with the spreadsheet, reporting and dashboard tools layered on top. If your systems need upgrading, that work is scoped separately as a finance transformation project.
What if I need to pause or cancel?
Plans can be paused or cancelled with six weeks notice. You receive clearly documented processes and standard operating procedures so your team or a new provider can pick the work up without disruption.
